Used as a refractory sand in steel mills, the Magfill is an EBT Taphole filler for electric arc furnaces.

Magfill® granule size distribution is an engineered balance between coarse and fine-grained particles. Finer grain sizes in contact with the molten metal quickly fuse to form a reliable refractory plug. The coarser particles form a dense stratum, which supports the thinner fused layer until the heat is tapped. Magfill® grades minimize sub-surface sintering below the fused layer for greater tapping efficiency and improved productivity.

Magfill® basic PH chemistry prevents reaction with basic magnesite and magnesia carbon tap hole refractories to promote longer campaigns.
